Soccer

Soccer, known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s net, primarily using the feet, but players can also use their heads and torsos to control and play the ball. The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end.

Soccer is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), which oversees international competitions such as the FIFA World Cup. The sport is characterized by its minimal use of equipment, as players typically wear cleated shoes, socks, shin guards, and uniforms. The match lasts for 90 minutes, divided into two halves of 45 minutes each, with a 15-minute halftime break.

Soccer is known for its global appeal and is one of the most popular sports worldwide, with millions of players and fans across continents. The sport promotes teamwork, coordination, and physical fitness, making it a significant part of cultural and social life in many societies.
